Featured Artist: Bokkei

Online I go by the name Bokkei but my name is Maria Björnbom Öberg. I work as a tattoo artist in Östersund, Sweden, by day and during the evenings I draw. A lot. I have been drawing since I was very young, with a mother who was very creative and drew a lot. She made sure that we always had loads of art supples at home, so I could always find something to draw with. I went to art oriented college and spent two years at Östersunds art school, but I think it is the countless hours spent drawing at home that have helped me develop my techniques the most.

I have always been fascinated by drawing skin and I never seem to get tired of trying to capture faces on paper. I love to try and experiment with new materials and at various times I’ve had different favourites. For a while I only worked with oil colour, then it was aquarelle and after that markers, the last couple of years I have been using mostly colour pencils and I often combine them with markers. There is an ocean of different brands and types of pencils and I always find new materials that I want to try out. I really hope you like this months supplies and maybe you’ll find some new favourite materials to work with!
