Tessa Harris

I’m Tessa, a 24-year-old artist living in Wales, UK. When I am not in the lab studying for a PhD I spend my time painting, focusing mainly on vibrant watercolour portraits.

One of my favourite things about watercolour is how easy it is to transition from an abstract, loose style to fine, technical details. Embracing this aspect of the medium has helped me to develop my style and I’m hoping that will only continue to evolve as I paint more!

This months box is all about taking inspiration from the mystical worlds of fantasy art. Work with the juxtaposing earthy and magical metallic colour palette to create an otherworldly being. Experiment with the pencils, see how using wet and dry can work together to create spritely elements and textures. Layer up the pearlescent watercolour pots for added sparkle and watch your enchanted creations shimmer to life.

Jackman's Pearlescent Watercolour Pot

These magical, sparkling, pearlescent watercolour pots have all the same high quality characteristics of professional grade watercolours with the addition of pearlescent particles, as an additional enchanting element. Once dry these particles reflect the light and makes your pigments sparkle, perfect for creating shimmering effects in your artwork. They are lightfast paints with a rich and vibrant pigment and can be activated with water and used in exactly the same way as any watercolour supply. They are also compatible to be mixed and combined with other water based paints/pencils to create personalised colour variations.

Derwent Watercolour Pencils

These premium watercolour pencils are equip with soft and easily blend-able pigment leads, which allow for beautiful washes, blending, layering and other desirable watercolour effects. They can be used with or without water, which allows you to draw and paint with complete control. These pigments are not permanent once dry, so you can re-wet it again, to move, blend and adjust as your heart desires.

Seawhite Round Synthetic Brush

A good paint brush is at the heart of any painting. This versatile brush is great for watercolour, as it has a high density of synthetic bristles which will hold water well. With a round tip and tapered end it is great for fine details and will have impeccable control whilst painting and with a bit of pressure large wash areas should also be possible.

Goldline Watercolour Pad (200gsm)

This Goldline watercolour pad is made from 200gsm cotton fibres and lignin free cellulose. This paper is acid free and has high absorbency which avoids any unwanted bleeding, making it perfect for all of your watercolour needs. The sheets are also glued on one side for easy removable from the pad.
