Cai Burton is an illustrator and designer based in Bristol, UK. Patterns and line drawings are his thing, and he loves working in black and white. Spots are the focus of a lot of his work recently, and he loves the way they create flowing and organic patterns. A huge part of his work is the repetitive process that goes into it. For him, drawing is mindful and helps him to rest and calm down. The repeating actions that go into hand drawing each and every circle is as much a part of the piece as the end result.

This month we want you to see what you can create with circles. Use them as a starting point or slowly build them up to create your artwork. Add a splash of metallic blue or gold to accent your bubbly creation and see what wonders emerge.

This 1.2mm marker is rich in pigment and creates an excellent metallic effect. They are quick drying, acid & Xylene free as well as being highly water and fade resistant. These markers are completely opaque, even on dark or transparent surfaces. The colour will remain crisp over a long period of time.
If you want to get perfectly round shapes then try a compass. This circle creating tool has a universal grip so you can use the included pencil, a colour pencil or even a fineline pen. So when you're outlining your drawing you can still get great results. Give it a go!
Solid extruded graphite pencil with a thin layer of lacquer to facilitate handling. Sharpen like a normal woodcase pencil for detail work, or use the edges or blunt points for shading or broad, expressive work.
