Our #099 ScrawlrBox Top 3 ScrawlrChallenge Picks
#099 ScrawlrBox ScrawlrChallenge: "Dreamcatcher'
Wakey wakey Scrawlrs! It may have been a dream but don’t let it slip away. It is said that dreams are the subconscious imaginings of our memories and images. So why not let this inspire you and put pastel to paper. These soft pastels can be swept, dotted, hatched and scrawled to form all your dream-like creations.
Here are our picks for the #099 ScrawlrBox:

Another gorgeous colour palette from the rainbow of pastels in this box. We love how this peice makes use of layers of expressive marks to build up this woodland scene. Somewhere that looks cold but inviting.
Soft pastels; Medium of your dreams or nightmares?
"Honestly, when I realised we got soft pastels in the box I was very disappointed. I only ever tried them once before and I swore I never would again. They felt awful to touch, nothing worked how I wanted and they made such a mess! That’s why I love Scrawlrbox though, for pushing me out of my comfort zone. I took on the challenge and loved the result! So much so that I asked for a bigger set and some nice
paper for Christmas”

A great use of all the colours in this box! These colourful floaty clouds look like someone stepping into a dream world - super soft, bouncy and playful. We love it.
Was this your first time using soft pastels?
“It was my first time in over 2 decades. Now I predominantly use watercolours, pencils and markers, so it was nice to revisit the soft pastel medium as an adult. I feel like each new medium I’ve explored has contributed to expanding my knowledge of the media I’m already familiar with. Equally my existing knowledge of other media has helped me with creating this piece.

A serene scene that looks like it’s straight from a dream. There is something calming about this whale floating throught the air. We lovw how the stars have been made to pop against the smooth blends of the harmonius colour palette. Great work.
