#102 ScrawlrBox ScrawlrChallenge: 'Fire & Ice'

Time to embrace the elements! This months box featured a set of Viviva metallic watercolour sheets that packed a punch of pigment and shimmer to play with.

If fire and ice were a person... We think she nailed this one! We are here for the superhero vibes. Also really liked the cat Queen fire and ice themed take on the prompt too, how awesome would a deck of cards like this be?!

What did you think of these metallic sheets ?

“I loved them! I was really surprised how vibrant these watercolors are and it was a joy to work with them. My favorite part about them was that they’re very shimmery when you put a lot of paint on your brush, but as you dilute them with water, they almost seem like regular watercolors, making them versatile!”

A purrrfect take on this months #ScrawlrChallenge. The icy look in this cute fellas eyes drew us in! Lovely use of the cool toned colous from the vivia sheets, the level of detail in this just incredible

What was your favourite way to usethese watercolours?

  “I actually had quite a few preferred methods of using these paints! I found them really vibrant and easy to layer, so I chose to mainly use small paintbrush strokes to create the texture of the fur. They also blend really well which worked nicely for the eyes and nose! Usually with art I don’t go in with a plan, I just go with the flow and hope for the best! Will definitely be using these paints again, the colours are gorgeous and I love the sparkle!”

She’s sassy! We love the fiery attitude this piece is giving. A beautiful combination in hot and cold colours, and an excellent use of glazing too! A great take on this months prompt.

What was your inspiration behind this piece?

“ I suppose i didnt have an inspiration for this but I was focusing more on the use of color and warm tones for the left side and cool tones of those more in shadow...whilst still using the colors I had available for the challenge. I love using colors opposite in the color wheel as they create such great contrast.”
