Our #084 ScrawlrBox Top 3 ScrawlrChallenge Picks
#084 ScrawlrBox ScrawlrChallenge: 'Where Rivers Flow'.
Take yourself – mentally or physically- to a place where rivers flow, woodlands flourish and valleys meet. This months box was inspired by our featured artists love for exploring the beauty of the great outdoors. We encouraged Scrawlrs to play about with sweeping, scraping and scribbling the Sennelier Oil pastels to form tactile textures and fine details to into their artwork.
The ultra pigmented, soft and creamy Sennilier oil pastels included in the August ‘22 box we’re a first for ScrawlrBox! These messy but fun professional grade pastels provided the ideal palette for all things flowing water! Perfect for blending and mirroring all those tactile textures nature has to offer. Picking a top 3 was as HARD. So many beautiful creations to pick from, each and every one offering their own character and style

We loved how Bethany has used the oil pastels like paints, blending them into each other to create this beautiful, moody lilly piece.
We noticed Bethany had even gone onto create an extra challenge piece using the same techniques and it’s equally as stunning.
"Lily pads in oil pastel using the supplies from this month’s scrawlrbox. First time working with them and really enjoyed it. Bit messy though”

You know a Scrawlr is having fun with they create two pieces, but five?! Wow!
Where do we even begin? This dotty, textural and expressive style is absolutely incredible and gave us Autumnal vibes. Each piece captures a playful whimsy and we are here for it.

We first came across this piece on YouTube via Josephs’ channel, Joseph Owens Art. There is something so satisfying watching the process of someone work! We love all the mixture of blending and textures this one, really nailed those oil pastel techniques.
"This took...so long. And so messy, never again am I using oil pastels. Even though it was painful getting use to them, I am really proud of how this turned out.
