Our Febuary '22 Top 3 ScrawlrChallenge Picks

February '22 ScrawlrChallenge: 'Electric Dreams'

As a wise and distinguished animated crab once said, darling it’s better, down where it’s wetter, under the sea. So in light of this informative advice, the February 2022 box transported you to a world of coral reefs filled with tropical vegetation and fishes of all shapes, sizes and colours.

The pastel colour palette in this box was perfect for capturing the ethereal and magical ambiance that is found in the vast expanses of our oceans. With inspiration from our wonderfully talented featured artist, Katie Smith, and the #ScrawlrChallenge ‘Between the Reef’, there were so many fantastic creations made by our Scrawlrs.

Here are our Top 3 for February

Just look a this electric dragon! We love it when we can challenge you to a colour or supply you might not normally reach for, especially when you love the end result.

"Here's my finished take on "Electric Dreams", the last theme for the monthly ScrawlrBox challenge. Again a pretty unusual method for me with unusual materials, but that's the point of doing these challenges. I've never tried such colours on my own, I prefer the more natural palette. But do I like the results? Sure I do!

Another thing I wouldn't have went for are the markers I used here. These are very convenient to use, no clean up needed when you finish, unlike any paint 😆Maybe it's not a surprise if I tell you my favourite was the pink”

I mean, wow. This piece really stood out to me, its captured the streets of Toyko perfectly, even down to the reflection. The attention to detail is just amazing. An absolute inspiration! And really embraced the neon theme of this box.

“One of my favourite pieces this year! The theme for this month's box was 'Electric Dreams', and came with these amazing neon paint pens!

I liked the idea of a city with neon signs, so I looked for a street view on Unsplash. This shot was taken by Duncan Lewis at Shinjuku, Tokyo!”

A beautiful neon aquatic scene. She’s maned to turned what is quite a loud colour palette into tranquillity. We love how the purple Micron has been watered down for the pond details, really makes hose neon fish pop! Excellent take on the prompt and use of the supplies.

"Neon colours are not ones I normally ever use so this month’s #scrawlrchallenge has really challenged me.”
