Top Tip From Chris

Embossing Your Paper
Random textures or finer details can be embossed onto the paper surface with a blunt needle (or embossing pen if you have one!) before you start drawing. Then, when you start drawing, the deeper lines in the paper start to appear as you apply the colour.

Alternate Grip
How you hold the pencil influences the outcome and lay down of colour and even the texture.
Hold the pencil close and tight to the tip for more precision, or nearer the end for loose sketch like strokes.
How you angle your pencil will also change the stroke. Steep angles create a defined line, while a more fat angle will create a broader stroke of colour.
