Ratios

Experiment with gradient ratios.

Create a chart with 6 sections. On Both ends, paint or draw on your original colours. Using a palette, create a 50/50 mix of those two colours: you are looking for that middle tone. Apply that to the middle section. In the other sections, you want an 80/20 mix of the colours. Mix those in your palette, then apply to the page. Now you have a basic chart that shows you a simple gradient. .

Top Tip From Katalina

You can use these markers in a bunch of different ways:- Water them down and mix them with a brush on a palette.- Apply them directly to the paper, then use a brush to softenthe colors. The quicker you work, the softer the transitions will be.- Try applying them to wet paper to create different textures and patterns.- Adjust the pressure for thin or thick lines. Being intentional with this cancreate more dynamic results!
