Mikaella Theofanopoulou
Mikaella is an Athens (Greece) based independent artist & designer, born in Tokyo (Japan). After receiving her Master in Applied Design in Architecture from Oxford School of Architecture, she engaged with interior design, drawing inspiration from the traditional Japanese aesthetics of the wabi-sabi philosophy. Her obsessive admiration for the clean lines & organic forms of interiors of unobtrusive beauty, stimulated her to shift her perspective towards the creation of artworks that reveal this kind of authenticity.
Drawing her inspiration from minimalism to expressionism, she communicates her abstract ideas with a refined single line visual language, perceived universally but subject to multiple interpretations. Her art is all about exploring genuineness in existing imperfection through the simplicity of a single line, rejecting everything superfluous. Her works invite you to discover that the most intricate sentiment can emerge even from a smooth, subtle line.
No new line is ever the same. This months box is to challenge yourself to work with a continuous flow as inspired by our featured artist. Add your own twist and turns and fill between the lines. Over lap and connect your marks to form new shapes, try shifting your perspective to transform what seem like simple lines into something more spectacular.

Nice supplies
The supplies are actually really nice and the art is experimental. But the paper is absolutely not suited for the supplies. It tears if you use the paint pen, if you erase too much it starts to get ripped and the crayons tear the paper. The supplies are great, but wouldn't suggest buying if you don't do experimental art or aren't interested in crayons as the paper doesn't make up for a supply you might not like. Got this on sale so I don't feel too let down, but I can see how it would be very disappointing for people who pay full price.
