Damian Różański
Born in Poland, a year after communism came to an end, one of my very first memories was copying the polish eagle from coin to paper. Later I was creating all the artwork for my younger brothers art classes. I wasn’t very interested in school so my notebooks were covered in drawings and doodles. When school finished I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, I thought about studying advertising and marketing at university, but instead did one year of law before I realized that it wasn’t stimulating enough and didn’t want to waste any more time.
In 2011 I got my first tattoo and a passion for art was suddenly relit inside me. I got on very well with the artist and he said he would teach me how to tattoo. He showed me which needles did what, some hand movements and that was it. We had few training sessions and I was left on my own with a basic tattoo kit and determination. I knew I could improve, thanks to my close friends and all the brave ones that let me tattoo them. After few years of consistent drawing and training myself, I quit my job and joined tattoo studio where I am now the resident artist.
My inspirations are found in nature, music and people. I oft en find clouds to be very inspiring, the moments when my imagination is creating something out of weird shaped clouds are priceless. I really enjoy painting with inks and watercolours and love that you don’t have complete control over how the pigment and paper might behave.
We have simplified this months box to a single colour. Some inks might be warmer or colder in tone, but all black. Various nib styles and sizes for great line variation. Use the included inspirations and challenge prompt to help test and explore these supplies and how they can work together.

What was in the box?
Pentel Colour Brush
Create beautiful, translucent, watercolour effects with this water-based ink brush pen. It has a synthetic fibre real brush tip that retains its shape. The ink is valve-activated for smooth flow, without leaking.
Sakura Pigma BB
This versatile brush pen features a specially designed nib that provides consistent ink delivery across its sides and tip. The archival-quality Pigma pigment ink is waterproof and fade-resistant, and will not smear, feather, or bleed through most papers. Small bumps on the cap prevent the pen from rolling away.
Stabilo Pen 68
A high-quality fibre tip pen with vibrant, odourless, water-based ink that draws a 1 mm line. It can even be left uncapped up to 24 hours without drying out.
Edding 2200 C
A permanent marker with medium chisel nib that draws a 1 to 5mm line. The light-fast quick-drying ink is waterproof on most surfaces once dry, but may bleed through your paper.
Zebra Sarasa Porous Pen
A needle point fineline pen with water resistant and acid free, archival quality ink! The fine nib draws a 0.8mm line and is great for fine detail.
Artline Stix Brush Marker
A marker with a strange barrel but an amazing brush nib. The broad brush tip gives a consistently bold line without skipping. The water based ink is non-toxic and washable from most surfaces.
Centropen 4606 Marker
This alcohol based marker was created for labelling CD’s, but we all know it has more uses than that. The fibrous tip draws a 1mm line and the barrel has a nice ergonomic grip. It can also last 5 days without its cap.
Derwent Graphik Line Maker
A classic drawing pen, that features a high-quality nib that glides effortlessly over the page, producing smooth, free-flowing lines. The water-based pigment ink gives rich pure tones that are lightfast.
Canaletto Velino 210gsm A5 Paper
Cotton papers have a natural lasting brightness, crisp purity, strength and elegance. During the paper making process, the long cotton fibers bond and intertwine creating a paper with exceptional strength.
This box was amazing. Just beautiful. It was insanely helpful as I was doing inktober, and has saved me many times over since. Black supplies are a staple, and having such an array of different black markers and pens in one box was like Christmas morning. My art became so much better as I had more options for nibs on my black and white pieces. It is possible that no box will ever come close to the magnitude of greatness that was this one. Check out my insta @hazartous for my black and white pieces, and know that this box was used to create almost all of them just by itself. I have never needed to buy a liner since.
