The neutral colour palette of this box is designed to compliment Judith Selcuk's artistically natural elements. This box consists of 6 Derwent Lightfast Pencils which are oil-based and very resilient, a Sakura Koi Coloring Brush Pen Blender, a Staedtler Tradition HB Pencil with Eraser, a Derwent Pastel Pencil Sharpener and Hahnemuhle Bugra Butten A5 Paper. This month's artistic influence is taken from oceanic scenery and realism.

Judith Selcuk
I have been a freelance artist and illustrator for quite a long time and have had the privilege to work alongside amazing art suppliers and companies demonstrating the use of their products and becoming an ambassador to brands such as Derwent. My art embraces the use of colour and I delight in using the new Lightfast pencil range released by Derwent. I am creating a legacy and want it to last for as long as possible and this range allows me to do just that.
Artist Tips…
My top tips for using these unique pencils are:
– Try them on different surfaces as you will be surprised just how versatile they are.
– To achieve smooth blends between layers and colours use small, overlapping pencil strokes to pull the pigments together.
– If using solvent or a blender pen work light to dark.
– Solvents/blenders work best when there is plenty of pencil pigment on the paper.
This month we have provided you with a great selection of high quality colour pencils and some great tools to help you use them to the best of their ability. Use the delicate colour palette carefully and build up layers slowly, blending together the pigments subtly to bring your artwork inspired by this month challenge to life. You could set up or arrange a still life of objects found or collected and try to re-imagine them onto your paper. Good Luck and keep Scrawling.

What was in the box?
Derwent Lightfast Pencils (6)
Derwent’s first oil-based pencils have extremely high levels of light resistance, with extensive testing claiming to last up to 100 years in museum conditions. The smooth texture of its revolutionary thick core can be sharpened to a strong point for detailed drawing and gives a dense colour application which brings vibrancy to your work. They can even be used with a medium giving a painterly effect when dissolved.
Sakura Koi Coloring Brush Pen Blender
This colourless blender pen has a durable brush nib to create fine or bold strokes with a change of pressure and will quickly spring back to its original shape. The odourless, water-based solvent facilitates smooth blending and layering of colours. Try lightly softening and blending your pencil colours with this handy pen.
Staedtler Tradition HB Pencil with Eraser
A classic and traditional pencil equipped with a PVC and latex-free eraser, is well known for a reason. This high quality pencil is unbelievably break-resistant through special lead formulation and super-bonded lead. Plus its great to draw with.
Derwent Pastel Pencil Sharpener
Although designed to be used with pastel pencils, this sharpener is a great way to achieve the perfect strong, short point with the thick core of the lightfast pencils.
Hahnemuhle Bugra Butten A5 Paper
A mould-made, wood-free, acid free 130gsm sheet in two colours featuring a laid, textured, Ingres surface. A popular choice for artists using pastels and pencils.
