Claudia Drexhage

I’m an artist living in the north of Germany. As an optician, working in the field of visual merchandising, compositions, shapes and expression through colours are an important topic in my daily life.

I am very passionate about watercolour. I love that it’s so unpredictable, immediate, vibrant and honest. How you think and feel will be visible in your watercolour paintings.

With using several techniques I developed my own style necessary to effectively communicate my impressions. Feeling a deep connection with nature, watercolour allows me to reflect my emotions as well as to express the poetic impressions rich, wild, silent beauty of the visible and invisible landscapes.

Liquid Landscape

It may be harder to travel to some of the world's greatest landscapes at the moment, but every landscape tells its own story. Take in the various vista's around you, but look at them in a new or interpretive way. If you can't get out (or its just too cold and wet) use a reference image of your favourite place. Experiment with all the techniques and textures possible with these supplies to bring out the personality of that view. Capture the feeling of the scene with expression rather than what it might actually look like. Have fun experimenting and enjoy the process.

Inside the box

Derwent Graphitint Paint Set

This Derwent Graphitint Paint Pan Set includes 12 pans of water-soluble paint made from a unique blend of graphite and a hint of colour. These paints include a unique blend of coloured graphite that are designed to create subtle muted tones with a beautiful graphite sheen. The paints contain fine graphite particles that settle into the paper grain to create a myriad of stunning effects. The subtle and naturally muted colour palette is ideal for urban and natural landscapes as well as expressive art. These versatile paints are also mixable with other Derwent watercolour paints, pencils and blocks. This set comes in small, durable plastic case - conveniently sized for on the go art - and includes a mini water brush, sponge and five mixing palettes.

Derwent Graphitint Pencil

This professional quality graphite pencil is perfect for every artist. The Graphitint pencil is ideal for sketching with the addition of watercolour effects. Its smooth texture makes for easy blending, smudging and layering. And, it is water-soluble so it can be used dry, but also you can add water for richer, more vibrant line work. Its water-soluble properties will appeal to artists looking to add another dimension to their graphite drawings whilst still retaining all the familiar qualities of their favourite graphite pencil.

Langton 300gsm Watercolour Pad

This Daler Rowney Langton Watercolour Pad has been popular among watercolour artists for years, and once you try it you’ll understand why. Langton paper is colour-stable, mould-made and acid-free, which helps prevent deterioration of the paint and to preserve the integrity of the paper over time. This cold-pressed variety is the most popular of watercolour papers, with a medium texture that makes it suitable for most effects and types of watercolour painting. These Daler Rowney Langton Watercolour Pads are also gummed, for easy sheet removal.
