Helen Jones

I’ve always been passionate about animals and wildlife and my career has involved working both as a Veterinary surgeon and as a lecturer in animal and veterinary qualifications. Living between the Yorkshire Wolds, Moors and Dales, I spend much of my free time in the countryside watching wild animals and birds, so wildlife photography and art were a natural progression as hobbies.

My love of nature inspires me to capture the moments that I’ve been fortunate enough to witness. I aim to show the sense of wonder I experience when encountering wildlife, as well as the character and beauty of the subject.

Each image I make tells a story of a moment that I’ve been privileged enough to experience and I love being able to share the beauty and excitement of these wildlife encounters with others.

What was in the box?

Conté à Paris Pastel Pencils

These artist grade pastel pencils form Conté à Paris offer soft and easy to apply pigment. The colour payoff is bright and bold for clean looking colours. They have a creamy texture which allows for a lovely smooth flow across the page when sketching and colouring. The ease of application allows you to confidently get creative with your expression! The hard wooden barrels are on the larger side with a 8.5mm diameter. Good news for those who don’t like the texture – the wooden barrel should also protect your fingers from picking up too much dust. RRP £2.30 /each

Clairefontaine PastelMat Paper (Sand)

This paper is the ultimate soft pastel paper specially requested by our featured artist. 360gsm Pastelmat Paper in a sand colour has a toothy, velvety surface, perfect for using with soft pastel pencils. RRP £7.99

Derwent Pastel Pencil Sharpener

A sharpener made for pastels! Designed for use with the more fragile media of pastel pencils, this sharpener is a great way to achieve the perfect strong, short point with the thick core of these Conte Pastel pencils. RRP £2.99
