Marta Betlej

I’m an artist from Poland and learnt my craft studying art at the University of Zielona Góra. In my creative life I have produced jewellery, made wedding fascinators, designed mascots and clothes, but after many varied creative years I have finally returned to my painting roots.

In the past I created a series of paintings called “Saving in time” but for the past few years I put painting and drawing aside to focus on other projects. But, when Lockdown came around, it changed my life and I decided to return to painting. In my artwork I combine drawing and painting techniques, creating spontaneous sketches and mark making, which can be seen in this featured piece. Using these different techniques and weaving my thoughts and emotions into them, combining art with feelings, as for me they are one and the same.

Expressive Expressions

This month we are bringing a splash of colour to the end of what has turned out to be a strange and pretty miserable year. Now is the time to get to work expressing those frustrations and pent-up emotions, turning them into something beautiful. Use the contents of this box to 'art' away your worries and reset ready for a better new year. Try to not worry about the details or the finished outcome, but use the process to express an emotion or feeling. Let the mark making and linework do the talking rather than the subject matter. What was in the box?

Marabu Art Crayons

These Art Crayons are buttery-smooth, wax-based soft pastels in a sturdy, fully-loaded retractable holder with an ergonomic grip and a clear protective cap. They are a versatile medium, suitable for a variety of fine art and mixed media work. They work well on raw or primed surfaces such as paper, canvas, fabric or wood. Derwent Watercolour Pad 300gsm A5

Developed especially for water-soluble pencils, this smooth paper is perfect for water-soluble colour, inks and watercolour paints. The smooth surface also provides an excellent base for the Marabu Art Crayons included in this box. Apply them direct and use the smooth sheets to blend colours together with your fingers, then add some water and put this paper through its paces experimenting with these supplies.

I love collecting weird art supplies, and these crayons are great to play with. Love them!

Interesting new materials and pretty sunset colours

so funky. the consistency is like oil pastels but they also lift somewhat with water. The pigment doesn't lift 100% which means it gives a smoky effect while leaving the original sketch. Its quite different from regular watercolours and it makes for a fun new experience.

Super fun!

THIS BOX IS GREAT! You were able to mix multiple different colors with the palette given, and the artist of the month SERVED! The crayons were a little weird when dilluted, but it didn't bother me too much

I have been using these pens to draw on everything... the other half won't be too happy when he see's I have defaced most of the kitchen! But I love these pens!

I love the Marubu art

I love the Marubu art crayons. You can use them as is or dilute them with water. They are easy to blend and layer. The color selection was great, as usual. The paper was a great addition.
